Publication began in February 1924 by the junior class at the National Kindergarten College. The college was housed at an estate, which had stables. The name "chaff" derives from chaff blowing across the campus from the stables.
Chaff ceased publication in December 1971 for unknown reasons.
A new independent student newspaper started called “The Underground” shortly after Chaff fell apart.
“The Underground” continued until May 5, 1972.
Chaff was brought back in September 1972 and continued through the fall of 1979. Several of the last issues of Chaff reference a steady decline of participation and interest in the student newspaper.
Note: After 1972-09-28 the volume numbers start over and go back the #1.
